Archetypes of the Menopaucalypse 3

This series is inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, because—let’s face it—our times are particularly difficult for anyone going through their first or second puberty (the second puberty corresponding to the perimenopausal and menopausal periods). Given the multitude of experiences depicted, I chose to title this series “Four Archetypes,” omitting the definite article “THE.” Here are four examples—four experiences of menopause expressed visually—which you are free to interpret as you wish. This collage, created using mixed media, is composed of hand-cut vintage paper, acrylic paint, and colored pencils. Each piece is equipped with a wire or another hanging mechanism on the back.
