TECHNIQUE AND MATERIALS Plaster, mortar, texturing paste, gesso, natural pigments, sand, inks, acrylic medium, oxidation effects, metallic accents, and varnish. STORY BEHIND THE WORK Rift explores the distance that sets in, even where a connection once existed. At the center of the work, a dark fissure marks a clear, almost irrevocable separation. Around it, the warm hues of copper, rust, and earth serve as a reminder that what is now divided was once alive, filled with warmth, closeness, and movement. This work explores those internal or relational fractures that do not always emerge with a crash. Sometimes, the gap widens slowly—between two people, between what we show and what we feel, or even between the person we once were and the person we are becoming. The dense material, altered and marked by oxidation, gives this fissure an almost organic presence. It evokes not only a rupture, but the imprint left by what has been separated. What opens up here does not close completely; rather, it compels us to look differently at what has changed. Rift evokes that uncomfortable space between attachment and detachment—where something falls apart, but where a deeper truth sometimes begins to emerge.
