The Bear Cub

This work brings together painting and sculpture through an assemblage technique, where a sewn teddy bear emerges from the surface of the canvas. Coated in gesso and painted with acrylic, the figure becomes an integral part of a richly textured pictorial space. The bear moves through an abstract environment shaped by color, texture, and pattern—an inner landscape that evokes creation, contemplation, and quiet transformation. The piece suggests that imagination and the creative gesture can become places of refuge, spaces where balance and breath are gently restored. Even as darker tones hint at shifting ground, the bear retains a sense of enchantment. It progresses through a luminous atmosphere, as though life’s rough edges were only passing traces along the way. Through its inherent softness and subtle smile, it becomes a reassuring presence—a silent companion inviting us forward, step by step. Orange, the dominant color, echoes the visual language of construction sites—symbolizing transformation, rebuilding, and collective momentum.
