Grief

Grief is a storm. A thunderous collision of beautiful and painful emotions: regret, shame, guilt, longing, love and rage. In this piece, I violently splattered paint onto the canvas - an embodied, expressive process through which I make visible the pain brewing inside my heart following a complex period of loss. With each splatter, I strove to relieve the weight of grief I was experiencing. The result is a barrage of colours, thick clumps, drips, and forms - the red splatters convey a clash of rage and love; the black and blue splatters, despair, confusion and longing; the pink hues in the background capture the beauty of what was lost.
