The melt

The process of melting exposes layers of consciousness, emotion, memory and insight that may be unfamiliar, revelatory, shocking, and freeing. In this piece, a person is undergoing such a transformation. The dripping layers of paint represent aspects of the person’s former self shedding away, uncovering new facets of their spirit and soul. The process is messy, uncomfortable and ambiguous. However, on the other side, new pathways of existence seem possible and within reach. The vibrant colours being unearthed point to exciting and novel ways of being following a necessary, but nonetheless, arduous metamorphosis.
