Misery

This work depicts a rupture and the way in which a person, after being cast aside, can become merely an object of observation. The fragmented faces, inscriptions, crossed-out gazes, and marks that crisscross the composition embody this distant presence, where we prefer to look, comment, or follow rather than confront what actually happened. Caught between a relationship that seems to have ended and a gaze that nevertheless keeps returning, the work reveals the tension of a person reduced to a distraction, yet one who remains impossible to truly forget.
