We are at peace now

This work depicts the innocent victims of war through five figures marked by wounds and mutilations. The missing leg, disfigured faces, torn-out jaws, burned bodies, and missing limbs graphically illustrate the consequences of war on those who endure it, while the red and green hues evoke the violence and the military context in which these bodies are trapped. By contrasting the title “We Are at Peace Now” with the destruction visible on the figures, the work captures the irony of a peace achieved at the cost of broken bodies, where the end of the conflict cannot erase what it has left behind.
