Winter Release

Subject Matter: The piece centers on a monumental, close-up study of a singular white calla lily bloom. The flower is captured in full bloom, revealing its delicate, golden-yellow spadix nestled at its core. Color Palette & Contrast: Gough utilizes soft, ivory-white tones for the main petal, blending subtle shifts of creamy yellow and deep magenta contours near the center. The bright flower stands out against a rich, dark backdrop of overlapping green leaves, using dramatic chiaroscuro lighting to push the bloom froward. Texture & Presentation: Painted with translucent washes on high-quality cotton rag paper, the original piece exhibits a distinct, textured deckle edge framing the artwork.
