The etymology of the form

The etymology of the form is a prayer. It is inscribed within the lyrical works of the artist Gaëlle Étémé, for whom painting is an inner song. A composition, because often when the self feels lost, it is the voice that brings it back to its finitude. The colors and lines, in this sense, share the same destiny: they are there to divert attention but simultaneously unsettle us about the very origin of the Manifest. Because we do not know, we vibrate with them, because we are composed of them. We are forms that sing of anguish and the celebration of life. Like a Gregorian chant, this work detaches itself from the gaze through its reclaimed canvas fabric. The work of dyeing, the green acrylic paint, and the black and ochre lines forming a labyrinth, like a puzzle or a mosaic, lend an ancient and solemn character to the perception of the work. Is it a prophet who draws through this play of forms? Who goes there? If not you who sings? And silence falls. A question arises.
