Turning Sun

I wanted to paint something light and sunny. So I let sunflowers grow across the canvas, a little here and there, as though each one were searching for its own patch of light. Then a butterfly came to rest among them. It changed nothing, and yet suddenly, everything felt more alive. This painting was born from a simple wish: to hold on to a little sunshine, even on the days when there is none.
