Frost

This painting is the third in my Landscapes series, inspired by photographs discovered in old issues of National Geographic. I had fallen in love with this winter scene because it brought me back to the ponds of my childhood, in the fields of Laval. We used to go skating there when we were young. There was the cold, our rosy cheeks, the sound of blades gliding across the ice, and the feeling that winter belonged to us for a few hours. As I painted it, I found my way back to those days. The water became ice, the trees were covered in snow, and somewhere between the two, a memory returned to settle on the canvas.
