Shannon T Bishop has always been involved in art but initially did not consider a career in it. In 1981, things changed as she began taking pictures and drawing. Her bears were selected for an art show titled "Healing Through the Arts." She started selling some work and took her art more seriously, using it to overcome pain and depression. After losing a couple of years, she met Laura, who owned a Native Studio called Working Horse, and worked with her for three years.
