Sanchez la Mora is a Cuban visual artist based in Montreal. Her work emerged during a period of pain, fear, and loneliness, when she felt lost, directionless, and unsure of which path to take. Painting became her refuge, and then a way to rediscover herself and transform her wounds into strength. Her creations explore memory, identity, Cuban and Afro-Cuban roots, spirituality, and healing. Through color, symbols, and human figures, she conveys emotions and fragments of life that words alone cannot always express.
