Lysanne Morissette (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and art therapist. She trained in visual arts and movement arts in Montreal, Europe, and through self-study. She pursued studies in movement arts in England, which led her to tour internationally as a performer. The many new beginnings she has experienced are now reflected in a need to remain attuned to the layering of experiences while listening to the metamorphosis of her motivations. She develops a gestural approach to painting that translates movements arising from a dialogue with colors and somatic memories of landscapes. Queer love, a visceral friendship with the living world, and the urgency of landscapes inhabit her art and are expressed through abstraction in painting: forms, textures, layers, dynamics, and risk-taking. She is interested in the intimate necessity that leads to creation, in intuition, and in the body’s memory. Through her art, she seeks to break down the barriers between the interior and the exterior, hoping to experience time and the living world as accessible spaces for individual and collective healing: by delving ever deeper into her inner ecosystems, she discovers the vast spaces that unite us. She participates in group and solo exhibitions in Montreal and England. She lives and works in Tio'tiá:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal; her studio is located in the Groover Building, and she is a member of REPAIRE.
