Gwanaël Ronse Roy (GWAN) is a visual artist based in Montreal. Self-taught, he first explored street art beginning in 2014 and created several public works before turning toward a more introspective form of painting, blending symbolism, poetry, and archetypal figures. Since late autumn 2022, voices and closed-eye visions have accompanied him every day. This experience, which he describes as a permanent psychosis, marked a turning point in both his life and his art. Before this inner collapse, he had painted Zorro, Donna, and Le Grand Pic. It was only with Le Tigre, and later in 2025, that he gradually rediscovered the impulse to create. His current works are born from within this passage. They carry what he calls “what saves him”: a vibrant inner world filled with presences, where each image becomes a passage.
