Elwin is a 64-year-old newcomer to Canada. He moved in June 2025 with his wife, a Canadian citizen, to spend their later years near their children and grandchildren. He is not a refugee; rather, he chose to leave the state, country, and region where he had lived all his life to make his wife happy. Adjusting to a new culture and climate has taken time, however similar others may consider them to be. This transition led him to painting—particularly oil landscape painting.
