THE APPROACH

One painting, one life.

Benoît Leroux is a painter from the Montreal area who has produced more than 700 works, about 50 of which are in private collections. Oil painting and dry pastels are his preferred mediums. He has held four solo exhibitions and participated in four other group exhibitions. Benoît Leroux’s background also includes theater, poetry, clowning, philosophy, and engineering. He is an activist for several social causes: he created Allo-Poly, a live comedy talk show concept in response to the Polytechnique tragedy; he is campaigning against the construction of the Magniola plant in the Eastern Townships due to the pollution it would generate; he climbed the Jacques Cartier Bridge to advocate for fathers’ rights after losing custody of his children. He previously earned his living as a professional computer programmer in Montreal and California. He now devotes himself entirely to visual art, a project he has long conceived and prepared for. Benoît Leroux hopes to bring a little magic to a world that is otherwise devoid of meaning. His art, which is primarily figurative and often symbolic, explores the human condition. He is currently preparing his next thematic solo exhibition titled Catastrophes, a highly topical subject that affects the entire planet.
