“One stroke at a time, suspend time and elevate the ordinary!”

Painter · Montréal, Canada
Originally from a small Breton village in France and a Montrealer at heart for over a decade, Anaïs Briend navigates between two shores and two imaginaries. Her creative name, Plouc Atelier, is an act of reclamation—transforming a once pejorative term used to describe Breton domestic workers into a space of freedom and play. For her, it is a statement: art does not need to be elitist to be remarkable; it can emerge from anywhere, even from nothing. Paper, wood, ceramics, oil pastels, an iPad, or a jigsaw : everything becomes material for imagination in her hands. Illustration is a way of inhabiting emptiness and reshaping it into something else. Shaped by her studies in film and photography, she composes images like fragments of narrative, hovering between everyday scenes and subtle surreal shifts. Between the rawness of gesture and delicate lines, she plays with codes to invite reflection: what do we do with our intimate moments? Whether exploring femininity, taming inner tensions, or painting the tangible, she seeks to translate the silent emotions that inhabit our spaces. Each work is a doorway into her world ! An invitation to cross the threshold.
