'Le long chemin de retour 7'

'the long road home 7' is a continuation of a love story. My own love story where I exist with my lover in both the past and present moment, isolated unto ourselves and yet interconnected with the world around us. Our story is told both through the physicality of our aging bodies and in the images of memory, places, and times past that form the world in which we now exist. The road symbolizes our journey together, the prairie landscape our natural environment seared into our blood, the sandhill cranes powerful yet silent witnesses to a love and lifelong commitment. 'the long road home 7' is a mixed media piece. The images of the elderly couple and the beautiful sandhill cranes are executed in walnut ink and oil paint on translucent drafting film. The highway and landscape are recycled from a silkscreen print that I did many years ago. The drafting film and the silkscreen are layered together on a birch panel substrate.
