A spectacular satire (2009)

In this imposing work with a remarkable stage presence, Ronald Poirier unfolds a veritable visual tapestry of hypnotic density. Composed in a horizontal diptych format, the canvas is characterized by a vibrant profusion of shapes, ideograms, and stylized creatures that intertwine across the entire surface. Unlike the artist’s strictly monochromatic compositions, this piece comes alive with a rich color palette dominated by deep reds, touches of indigo blue, black, white, and soft ochre. The profusion of motifs resembles a secret pictorial language, evoking at once primitive scripts, contemporary graffiti, and art brut. The frenetic accumulation of lines creates an effect of controlled saturation (a masterfully managed horror vacui) where the viewer is invited to decipher a multitude of small inner narratives. A highly expressive centerpiece, it infuses the space that houses it with a dynamic, warm, and captivating energy.
