Shedding the Fragile Ego

This mixed media artwork is about the exploration of humility and personal growth. The human being is represented by black wire, easy to bend. It’s signifies the moldable and adjustable nature of people. See how the burden of a large ego bends them over. Meanwhile, the egg shells’ fragility underscores how delicate and easily shattered our egos truly are. In the early stages of life, the eggshells on top of the human are the weight of a larger ego. As the figure stands taller with time, you see that the ego is being shed, with the bulk of the eggshells under their feet The transformation with time serves as a visual metaphor for personal growth. I hope that by contemplating this journey, viewers will recognize the liberating effect of embracing humility, and how it can allow one to stand taller and more grounded in life.
