Description
Security contrasts the vulnerability of childhood with the symbols of power and protection constructed by mass culture. The superhero’s shield, pierced by projectiles, reveals the fragility of that promise of safety, while the child’s gaze confronts the viewer with a reality in which the heroes will not come.
