Artwork Description

The giant and mighty hunter Orion boasted that he could kill every animal and beast on Earth. Angered by his arrogance and fearing for her creatures, the Earth goddess Gaia sent a giant scorpion to slay Orion. The scorpion fatally stung Orion striking his leg. Zeus placed both Orion and the Scorpion into the night sky on opposite sides of the heavens, where the scorpion continues to chase Orion away as the seasons change.
