Crows Get Messages from Rain

This silk sumi-e painting by Kathleen Deyo depicts six black crows in various poses against a textured background with vertical streaks of muted purple and blue. The birds are rendered with expressive brushstrokes, capturing different states of motion and interaction, from perched to flying and calling. The composition balances dynamic movement and stillness, while the limited color palette emphasizes the contrast between the dark crows and the lighter, softly streaked raindrop backdrop. The overall mood conveys a naturalistic yet slightly abstracted scene, inviting contemplation of avian behavior and presence.
