The Blue Love Seat

The Blue Couch I created The Blue Couch as a piece of nostalgia, inspired by the simple moments that defined the 1990s. Back then, the couch was more than just a piece of furniture—it was a gathering place. It was where families watched movies together, conversations stretched late into the evening, and friends came together to laugh, play, or simply enjoy each other's company. As I painted this work, I wanted to capture that feeling of comfort, closeness, and connection. The blues, violets, and turquoise, accented with luminous touches of pink and yellow, are inspired by the vibrant colours and bold patterns that defined 1990s design. Through rich textures and expressive brushstrokes, I intertwined these memories with a contemporary approach, allowing the past to exist in conversation with the present. This work is not about recreating the 1990s, but about preserving their essence. I wanted to invite people to bring that sense of nostalgia into their homes within a modern interior, reminding us that the objects surrounding us can also carry our memories. The Blue Couch is an invitation to slow down, sit together, share a moment, and celebrate the ordinary experiences that, with time, become our most treasured memories. For me, this painting is both a reflection on the past and a step toward the future—a way of preserving the colours, warmth, and joy of that era while reimagining them for today.
