*Letters Without an Alphabet* is an abstract work created in acrylic on canvas, measuring 90 × 60 cm, inspired by the aesthetics and gestures of Arabic calligraphy. The shapes that traverse the canvas evoke letters, ligatures, and fragments of writing, without, however, forming a specific word or phrase. The calligraphic gesture is thus liberated from its traditional function: the letter ceases to convey language and becomes movement, rhythm, and emotion. The contrast between the deep shades of purple and the luminous touches of yellow-green creates a tension between light and shadow, matter and movement, tradition and abstraction. The drips and visible brushstrokes attest to the spontaneity of the gesture and give the work an almost organic quality. Here, it is not necessary to be able to read the letters. The eye recognizes them, imagines them, and gives them its own meaning. “Letters Without an Alphabet” is thus an invitation to discover a form of calligraphy where language disappears to let the gesture speak for itself.
