Consolation

This work is one of the first in which I became acquainted with “loussitude,” a state of being in which I completely let go of control, where my arm moves across the canvas beyond its edges, where I abandon rigid contours and surrender to the impulse to create, creating without expectations. No sketch, no predetermined composition, just feeling. It is an adventure. Several shades of blue, along with a few earth tones and ochres, are thinned into liquid mixtures and poured into trays. Canvas laid flat. Wide brushes and palette knives—I am exhilarated by the movements they create, the blurs, the transparencies, the shadows and light dancing together in harmony. Time to dry. Then, several thin layers. The light seems to enter and settle on its own, unexpectedly and spontaneously. I am not alone. I discover a dialogue with the canvas. I can say today that this is where a connection to my essence, to my inner being, begins to take root… in a form of trust that is never fully attained, but rather always rediscovered.
