Threshold

I painted this on aluminium because I wanted the surface to hold the image lightly, like a reflection that might disappear if you look too long. The metal does not absorb paint the way paper or canvas does. It lets the colour sit on top, exposed, vulnerable. That is what standing at a threshold feels like—you are not fully inside yet, but you cannot stay outside either. This is a painting about arriving and not arriving at the same time.
