The Idea of You

Every masterpiece begins as an idea. The Idea of You reflects the relationship between inspiration and execution—the invisible journey every artist takes before an image fully exists. The oversized, unfinished portrait represents the muse: a source of beauty, memory, and imagination that is never completely within reach. Standing before it, the solitary figure becomes a stand-in for every creator who has ever tried to give shape to an emotion or fleeting thought. The composition intentionally leaves much of the portrait unfinished, inviting viewers to participate in the act of creation. The empty space isn’t absence; it’s possibility. It asks us to consider how much of what we see is painted, and how much is completed by our own imagination. This original work combines expressive linework with soft watercolor transitions and bold acrylic gouache details, creating a balance between realism and abstraction.
