Rub Zombitch

Rub Zombitch was born during a time when I had nothing left to give. Some relationships drain us so slowly that, eventually, we no longer recognize our own face. That night, for the first time in a long while, I chose my own peace. I stopped chasing. I let the other person chase me instead. When I looked at this painting, I saw Ruby. Tired, defiant, she reminded me of a zombie. At the time, a relationship had drained so much of my energy that I looked like one too. Ruby is a survivor who walks forward with a sly smile while the world falls apart around her. Later, she would become one of the main characters of Kepler-10b. A thief who joins the nomads on their search for Larimar stones, but uses the journey to sneak through their tents in search of hidden treasures. Deep down, Ruby never waited for someone to make room for her. She learned to claim her own place.
