Despair / Depression

Despair / Depression explores the silent depths of inner suffering and the emotions that can remain invisible to those around us. Under ordinary light, the work reveals a fragmented composition, where forms seem to search for one another, overlap, and sometimes disappear. Under UV light, another dimension emerges: luminous colours and forms come to life, revealing an inner reality that can only be fully perceived beyond the surface. The painting evokes a state in which sadness becomes a weight, energy slowly fades, and the world outside seems to lose its light. It speaks to isolation, to the difficulty of expressing what is happening within, and to the distance between what we show and what we truly feel. As in many works from the series, UV light acts as a revealer. It does not simply transform the appearance of the painting; it exposes a reality that was there all along, but remained invisible. Despair / Depression invites the viewer to look beyond what is immediately visible and to recognize that some of the deepest struggles are also the ones no one can see.
