This painting was born from walking along the trails of Georgian Bay, hearing the flow of water in the distance before seeing it. I seem to be drawn to places where water meets granite again and again, wearing it down not through force, but through time and patience. In this painting, I focused on the cool mass of shadowed rock, the softened edges shaped by centuries of flow, and the force of gravity steadily doing its work. Standing near a waterfall, I often find myself wondering where all this water comes from and feeling a deep sense of gratitude for how fortunate we are in Canada to have such an abundance of "fresh" water, while other parts of the world face severe drought.
