Lizzie Magie

This work pays tribute to Lizzie Magie, the inventor behind “The Landlord’s Game,” the game that would inspire Monopoly. Her idea was taken up and popularized by a man, Charles Darrow, who became immensely wealthy thanks to the game’s success, while Lizzie Magie remained in the shadows. Perhaps the greatest paradox lies here: a woman who created a game to denounce a system would ultimately become, in another form, one of the most popular board games in the world.
