Perfectly Imperfect: Magenta

"Perfectly Imperfect" is a series of three paintings that explores the beauty found within imperfections through the universal act of smiling. Each piece captures a unique, imperfect bite, celebrating the individuality that makes us human. When I began this series, I wanted to portray the organic, unfiltered smiles of different people, in different life stages, as a way of exploring both our differences and our shared humanity. Although every smile is unique, it is something we all share, which is a simple yet powerful expression that connects us. I strongly believe that the simple expression of a smile reveals a small part of who we are. Whether perfectly aligned or beautifully imperfect, the smiles we possess express ourselves in ways words cannot. In this series, the viewer is given the opportunity to create their identity revolving around the smile alone. "Magenta" explores the identity of a young figure and brings up feelings of nostalgia. In this series, I wanted to ensure that different ages were included to properly capture the familiarity of this smile that is often seen in young children.
