Active since 2002 · Neighborhood: All City PERU143 is a living legend of the Montreal and Canadian mural scene. A Peruvian-Canadian at heart, this artist—associated with the "Graffuturism" movement—has been painting since 2002 with unwavering conviction: that mural art has the power to transform abandoned spaces into places of light, play, and hope. Thirty years after his start, his belief in this power has not wavered; it has grown, extending even into interstellar space. "PERU143’s work aims to heal, inspire, and uplift the spirit by transforming neglected and often oppressive spaces into safe, playful, and imaginative worlds." Since his first interventions in 2002, PERU143 has developed an instantly recognizable style: simple geometric shapes resembling puzzle pieces, clean lines, and primary colors evocative of childhood, all assembled into meditative compositions of astonishing complexity. This visual language, which he calls "Graffuturism," seeks to bridge the gap between graffiti tradition and a futuristic vision of mural art rooted in hope and social transformation. Among his most notable achievements in Montreal is *ENSEMBLE*, a 500-foot-long mural—one of the longest collaborative murals in Canada—which stands as a testament to his passion for the monumental and the collective. His practice also encompasses numerous collaborations with community organizations, neighborhood associations, and institutions, allowing him to anchor his work in meaningful social contexts. Internationally, PERU143 has painted everywhere from Tijuana to Tokyo, participating in major festivals across five continents. His most unexpected project remains sending his art into space: one of his works was carried aboard a space mission and literally orbits the Earth—a perfect metaphor for an artist who never believed in limits. He lives in Montreal with his wife and twin children, deeply rooted in the city where he grew as an artist.
