This work brings together a street-art vocabulary and a urban approach. Its value does not come from applying decoration to architecture: the mural gains meaning through its scale, its surface and the way it is encountered in a real place.

Bryan Beyung paints memory — his own, that of his community, and that of a diaspora learning to stand upright between two cultures, two temporalities, and two definitions of self. His murals in Ville-Marie are intimate visual archives open to everyone: spaces where the personal becomes universal, because behind every individual story lies something that everyone recognizes. > “My work transforms personal stories into images that everyone can understand and feel. Through painting and muralism, I explore memory, cultural hybridity, and the connections between past and present.” Active since 2013 between Montreal and the international scene, Bryan Beyung has developed a mural and painting practice that is deeply personal and rooted in questions of diasporic identity. Drawing from his own familial and cultural history, his works possess the rare ability to resonate with very different audiences: what initially appears to be a specific personal narrative gradually reveals itself as something universal — the need to belong, the tension between roots and departure, heritage as both burden and source of strength. His participation in international festivals has allowed him to carry these questions beyond Montreal’s borders, placing his voice within a global dialogue on art, identity, and collective memory. These constant movements between the local and the international do not dilute his message — they enrich it, adding layers of reference and resonance to an already dense and thoughtful practice. Over more than a decade of work, Bryan Beyung has created numerous public murals in Montreal and abroad, building a coherent body of work that confirms, project after project, the strength of an approach grounded in sincerity and depth rather than spectacle or performance.
