Mural by Borris

This work brings together a street-art vocabulary and a urban approach. Its value does not come from applying decoration to architecture: the mural gains meaning through its scale, its surface and the way it is encountered in a real place.

Borrris has been active since 2015 · Neighborhoods: Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve / Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Borrris is an observer of connections — the ones that unite people despite their differences, the ones we cannot see but can still feel, the ones that color and form can make visible where words fail. A founding figure of Sherbrooke’s graffiti scene before establishing himself in Montreal, he is now one of the muralists most frequently invited to festivals across Canada. > “Figurative style: highlighting the human connections between people and what unites us despite our differences. Anatomy is distorted and stylized to create a unique visual language.” Borrris was one of the founding artists of the graffiti and street art scene in Sherbrooke, a city whose urban art community has often remained overlooked despite its vitality. After years of building his presence in the capital of the Eastern Townships, he chose to challenge himself within the Montreal market — a move requiring both confidence and a highly developed practice. His direct outreach to key players in the mural scene eventually paid off, leading to collaborations with MU, the MURAL Festival, MassivArt, and YAM — the four principal organizations shaping Montreal’s public art landscape. These partnerships allowed him to create murals in the two neighborhoods closest to his heart — Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and NDG — while building a national reputation that now brings him invitations to festivals across Canada. His figurative work is distinguished by deliberately distorted anatomy: stretched, compressed, or hybridized bodies that are not mistakes but aesthetic choices reflecting a plural and interconnected humanity. In parallel, his abstract practice seeks to make visible what exists between people — invisible bonds, energies, tensions, and harmonies that ordinary systems of representation struggle to capture.

Borris, whose practice is connected with Montreal, develops a visual world that can be followed from one wall to another. Captions and archives connected to this body of work document several mural interventions. These points of reference place the image within a practice rather than treating it as an isolated visual.
