Yacine Brahami (Yac) was born in 1955 in Algiers, in the Casbah, and holds both Algerian and Canadian citizenship. He began drawing at the age of four while hospitalized for tuberculosis. He studied fine arts and ceramics at the École supérieure des beaux‑arts d’Alger, graduating at the top of his class, and from 1981 to 1987 pursued further specialization in Madrid at the Francisco Jacinto de Alcantara School.
