“My work addresses endless transformation cycles in the human body and beauty standards, presented in relation to nature and mystical beings. And these new entities deploy themselves through various mediums.”

Painter · Montréal, Canada
Trained as a photographer and graphic designer, Janna turned to the fine arts as a self-taught artist when she created her first collages. Cutting out publications of all kinds, she assembled a few hundred works that quickly attracted attention for their meticulous aesthetics and intriguing contrasts. These pieces have been exhibited in Montreal, New York, Maastricht and Toronto. In 2018, she unveiled Biotopia, presenting for the first time serial collages inspired by nature and femininity. Following this, the artist deepened her research into the relationship between human evolution and nature. This body of work was exhibited in 2019 as part of Artch, a pivotal event for the emerging artist's learning and career. Following this, she devoted herself fully to assembling new bodies and integrating new mediums as complementary additions to collage. Her creations were presented at the Institut National gallery in 2021, and for the first time in a solo exhibition in new territories in 2022 at the Revelstoke Art Center. In 2023, in a solo show at the Maison de la Culture in NDG, she presents her first serpentine sculptures, whose scales are false fingernails. Alongside her personal practice, the artist also works on editorial commissions for Dead by Daylight, Noémiah, Yardley London, Dress to Kill, C2 Montréal and ELLE magazine, among others, which have published her work in countries such as England, Australia, Korea, Japan, Norway, Hungary, Taiwan, Ukraine, the Netherlands, China and the Czech Republic. Since 2020, Janna has also been teaching creative techniques and graphic design at Collège Salette, as well as marketing and presenting work in an exhibition context for photographers at Collège Marsan.
