Julien is first and foremost a musicologist and musician. He taught music in France for many years. He is an organist and opera singer and has been working in Quebec since 2018 with various ensembles, such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Montreal Opera, and others. Since 2020, he has created several series of works, primarily on canvas, but also calligraphy on paper. Memories of his father’s calligraphy have sparked many sources of inspiration. CRACKLING SOUNDS
In this series, I wanted to give free rein to the raw gesture. First in the background, which is quite contrasted, then in the upper layer where the throwing gesture gives a natural and unpredictable aspect.
FOUR SEASONS
In 2025, I created several series of small formats illustrating the seasons, with a mix of stylized flowers and abstract backgrounds.
